About Readeezy 💼

Readeezy is a non-profit, fully digital library for adolescent, teen and young adult struggling readers. Readeezy’s books are unique – with illustrations on every page, interactive gaming questions and age-respectful stories at accessible reading levels. They motivate, increase comprehension and they’re fun to read!

Project Objective 🌟

This projects objective with Readeezy was to provide a supplementary “Alexa-like” AI Chat Bot to support struggling readers with various tasks, questions, and curiosities. We tackled this Reading Companion project by conducting many teacher interviews to gain first handed insight as to how the target students interact with the existing platform and other ways of reading. The information we gathered helped us further develop our Bot from our high fidelity phase to our finalized prototype.

• We worked with Readeezy to create an AI conversational agent that could help older struggling readers with roadblocks in their reading.
• To start this project, we first had to learn about our users through user research. Then, we came up with ideas as to how the agent might look, keeping in mind our earlier discoveries. We built prototypes and tested them, seeing what worked and what didn’t for users.
• Finally, we were able to build a prototype that provides Readeezy with a model for how the reading companion will feel and function.

Process 💭

We conducted a thorough research and design process to ensure that we developed a reading companion that would uplift & support challenged readers. Throughout this process, we checked in weekly with the Readeezy team to align our designs with their input, share updates on our progress & get feedback on our prototypes.
