Solutions in Hometown Connections (SHC) is a non-profit organization that supports vulnerable refugee and immigrant populations in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
The goal is to help families who are struggling navigate their new home. There are many programs and resources that SHC offers. They include but are not limited to: Back to School supply drive/fundraisers, citizenship and naturalization guidance, early childhood and youth help, English classes, and welcome workshops.
Currently, SHC’s website is the primary portal for visitors to obtain information about the programs and resources offered.
SHC wants to increase requests for support and volunteers through their website, ultimately helping them achieve their mission of building better communities for vulnerable refugee and immigrant populations.
Improving the user experience and streamlining messaging through a redesign will make it easier for families to find information and access the support they need, as well as for volunteers and potential donors to learn about SHC's programs and ways they can support the organization.
During the first few meetings with the client, we got to know more about the organization, target demographics, current issues with the website and CMS system, and client goals.
Primary user: volunteers and potential donors
Secondary user: refugees and immigrants in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Individuals and their families (Known as SHC Family)
