About KadaKareer 💼

KadaKareer is a non-profit company aimed at revolutionizing career opportunities for underserved students in the Philippines. Through an intuitive mobile platform, we seamlessly integrate career coaching, informative resources, and collaborative forums. KadaKareer mission is to empower Filipino youth to embark on digital careers by offering tailored guidance, programs, and a community-centered approach, even in low-bandwidth settings.

Project Objective 🌟

The current KadaKareer community members interact with each other on platforms like Facebook and Discord. However, due to the nature of these platforms, this scattered communication makes it hard for students to connect meaningfully. The absence of the following functionalities is the contributing factor:

• Monitoring specific discussions over time
• Sorting discussions based on their personal relevance (filtering)
• Possibility for anonymous engagement for students

To tackle this challenge, our goal is to assist the client in the development of a specialized hub within the KadaKareer Community, designed for Filipino youth. In the Summer cycle of 2023, the objectives of the Develop for Good team are:

• Improve the Discourse-based website by creating custom styling elements and achieving visual homogeneity between current KadaKareer assets and Discourse server
• Start the development of a fully-customized React version of the KadaKareer hub
  • Create frontend components to render based on the client’s Figma file
  • Create a backend server that wraps Discourse API
