Good Samaritan Shelter is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide emergency, transitional, and affordable housing with supportive services for the homeless and those in recovery throughout the Central Coast. Since 1987, GSS has transformed the lives of over 4,000 individuals from vulnerable populations and has over 74 programs across Santa Barbara to continue aiding those in need.
Good Samaritan Shelter has needed a mobile app for nearly a decade. With numerous services offered across different locations, a streamlined access method is essential - particularly in providing up-to-date alerts and bringing awareness of the variety of resources GSS offers. This mobile application will make GSS services more accessible and discoverable for those who need them.

Santa Barbara is an affluent area known for it’s wealth, celebrities, and high cost of living. While it is not an area associated with poverty - there has been a homelessness problem for decades. This is where GSS steps in - providing various services to help individuals restart their lives. GSS wants to increase their visibility to ensure those in need can easily access their services through both web and mobile platforms.
