Firm Development Foundation is a non-profit organization that harnesses technology to create solutions that foster an economic union of prosperity across the globe. Guided by principles of faith, integrity, and stewardship, they are dedicated to innovations that uplift humanity and promote universal access to opportunities.
To foster a sense of global connectedness while allowing users to grow in their faith and self, One Voice Journal, a journaling mobile application for Christians, is being developed. This app enables personal and spiritual reflection, and aims to provide a platform for users to share their entries publicly, discovering others writing about similar themes simultaneously, thus igniting unity regardless of geographical location.

During the project scoping phase, our team gained a deep understanding of Firm Development Foundation’s mission and current initiatives. Initially, the plan was to develop this mobile app as a part of the One Accord ecosystem - a social platform with various features aimed at unifying people of faith. However, after discussing independence, future objectives, and receiving input from the client, we collectively decided to create a standalone mobile app with its own branding and technical architecture.
For the purpose of defining the project scope, we identified the target users as Christians from any denomination worldwide. We decided to expand the target to a broader audience in the future.
Given that this is a brand-new project with no constraints, the client was enthusiastic and provided a list of desired features. They envisioned a social platform where users could journal privately and choose to share entries publicly. While all suggested features were valuable, we prioritized those essential for the app's core functionality to focus on delivering the minimum viable product (MVP).
As a journaling app, the most fundamental features included creating and saving journal entries, as well as view existing entries. We also identified voice recording as a key feature that would add significant value. By allowing users to record their thoughts and emotions, voice recording would capture the true essence of the moment in a way that text alone might not.
Another important consideration was the client's existing wireframes for the authentication feature. These wireframes gave the design team a head start over engineering, allowing them to begin working on the visual aspects of the app while the technical details were being finalized. As a result, authentication, which includes user onboarding and sign-in, was also included in the project scope.
