CollAction, a Netherlands nonprofit established in 2016, aims to make doing good enjoyable. Their vision is to address issues such as climate change through positive, bottom-up approaches. By engaging users in monthly sustainable challenges called CrowdActions, CollAction connects people worldwide, fostering collective impact and empowering the crowd to affect change.
The main issue highlighted by CollAction was a need for features to increase user engagement, particularly after users click "participate" within challenges/CrowdActions on their app. Several calls-to-action (CTAs) were needed, such as being able to share media to show commitment, creating/joining groups to involve friends and family, and sharing functionalities for easy challenge invites.

In our initial meetings, we learned about CollAction's background, mission, and project goals to understand the product we were designing for. The client informed us that they intended to target users ages 18-30, with plans to scale to other groups later on. With this information, our team was tasked with investigating user engagement features to bridge the gap between sustainability and consistent collective action.
